Volatile magnesium octahydrotriborate complexes as potential CVD precursors to MgB2. Synthesis and characterization of Mg(B3H8)2 and its etherates.

The solid-state reaction of MgBr2 and NaB3H8 at 20 degrees C, followed by sublimation at 80 degrees C and 0.05 Torr, affords Mg(B3H8)2 as a white solid.
